OpenCCS - Computing Center Software
The Project
OpenCCS is a planning based and topology aware resource management system. In contrast to common resource management systems like PBS or SGE, which try to utilize currently free resources with waiting resource requests, OpenCCS computes a complete schedule about the future resource usage and assigns a start time to all jobs. Things like advance reservations or deadlines are inherent to the design. However, computing the schedule is more complex.
Our Mission
We are constantly developing OpenCCS. In the last years, we were involved in two EU projects; HPC4U and AssessGrid. Currently we are working on the integration of the management of virtual machines. The goal is to handle virtual machines like jobs, but without the need to instrument them with OpenCCS specific parts.
