The Project Group Virtualized Supercomputer (Pg-Vsc) is a research group of the University of Paderborn since 01.10.2008. The main scope is to develop an API, which is used to monitor and manage virtual machines of different hypervisors in a common way. For that purpose we use libVirt and extend it with drivers for VMware ESX Server and Microsoft Hyper-V.

The Resource Management System (RMS) uses this API to get monitoring information about each hypervisor in the heterogeneous hypervisor infrastructure and about the virtual machines (VMs) within the hypervisors and to manage them. At this, the whole functionality of libVirt can be used easily, due to the well-arranged API.

Additionally, there is a mechanism for authentication to the Cluster and a steering interface for communication with the VMs.
